About Us

Puppy love

Our family originally rescued a Golden Retriever who became an intregal member of our family for 11 years and watched over our new born son with honor.  We like many others found ourselves with a gaping hole when we had to say good bye due to cancer.  Our family was introduced to our first Tollers at the Toronto Spring Sportsmen Show in 2005 and instantly fell in love with these little red dogs, so when a decision was to be made for another member of the family the answer was swift and sure.  Through lots of research and  conversations with breeders, we learned how tollers would fit into our family perfectly.  We have become extremely passionate about the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers and strive to strengthen the breed any way we can.  As a breeder, our goal is to have healthy, strong, balanced dogs that excel in the field and all performance areas.  The NSDTR is a sporting breed and we believe that this should remain as a primary consideration in our breeding.  We are active members of the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club of Canada, the Ontario Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever Club, local All Breed Club and Canadian Kennel Club.

CKC Conformation win

We live in Halton Hills, just outside the GTA with our teenage son, Lira our 8 year old female Toller, Doc our 4 year old male Toller and Grace, our 2 year old female Toller.  Our dogs are first and foremost loving family companions with individual personalities that always bring smiles.  Our dogs from a very young age are socialized, mentally challenged and encouraged to problem solve with games and environmental conditioning.  All vaccinations are kept to an absolute minimum.  After many years of raising and breeding Tollers, we have learned that Tollers do not require the booster dosages that maybe other breeds do nor do they fit into a vet's schedule provided by the drug companies.

Field training Toller - hunting Toller

While our dogs aren't our whole life,  they certainly enrich every day and share many rewarding moments and accomplishments in our lives. Maverick, our first toller enjoyed field training since since he was 6 months old and became a steady and trusted hunting companion,  hunting fields, lakes, and backwaters for waterfowl and upland game.  He was always eager to gear up and get the hunt started.  Mav had a passion for hunting.  His drive to retrieve birds was impressive to say the least, often overcoming large obstacles, wind and chasing down cripples.

Shelby was introduced to field training at four months old and was a natural.  She learned extremely quickly and progressed at an impressive rate.  She had achieved many CKC titles and has been a happy and willing partner with Denice.  Shelby was very driven to succeed at any task and always had a wiggle in her bottom.  Denice loved working and training with Shelby in Conformation, Rally and Obedience and has had great success evidenced by the massive collection of rosettes and titles.

Doc is Shelby's son from her last litter and he honors her every day exhibiting many of her exceptional traits including a loving and committed demeanor, ready to be friends with just about everyone.  Doc has a passion for working with his people whether that be in an agility ring our out in the field hunting.  He illustrated amazing drive this fall pheasant hunting, pushing through very heavy cover with speed and purpose all culminating with retrieves delivered to hand.  Doc holds a Conformation Championship, Working Certificate and Agility Jumps & Tunnels titles to his name and continues to train for next levels.  Doc's ability to "turn on" when its go time and then relax and "turn off" when the time is right is very impressive.  A happy boy that has a laugh for us every day.

Grace came home to Delrickbay in March of 2023 and blessed us from the onset.  She has been very close with Denice but eagerly shows affection to the entire family.  Adopted and raised by Shelby upon arrival, Grace found a best friend in Doc and they are rarely found apart.  Grace is a very quick learner and strong problem solver, she loves to work and is ready to take on any challenge.  Denice and Grace have been extremely successful in Conformation, obtaining her Grand Championship in 2025.  Also obtaining her CGN, Agility Novice Jumps & Tunnels, Rally Excellent and Rally Advanced Excellent titles securing the #2 Toller in Canada rally ranking in '25.  We are very proud of our dogs and their accomplishments and continue to train and participate in a multitude of events and disciplines.  Our focus has been and always will be to ensure a well balanced environment is provided to our dogs that supports performance excellence.
